Prof. Arthur Kwena is an Associate Professor and Head of Department of Medical Biochemistry, School of Medicine, College of Health Sciences, Moi University, Eldoret, Kenya. He holds a BSc. Degree in Biochemistry and Chemistry from the University of Nairobi, Postgraduate Biochemistry from Chelsea College (King’s College), University of London, MSc. from the University of Liverpool and PhD from JKUAT. He joined Moi University Faculty of Health Sciences as a Lecturer in Medical Biochemistry in 1996 where has been teaching Medical Biochemistry to undergraduate MB ChB, BSc. Physical Therapy, BSc Medical Psychology, BDS, BSc Nursing and BSc Environmental Health students and recently various Post graduate courses at the School of Medicine. He also coordinates year 2 Community Based Education and Service (COBES) field placement programme of Moi University, College of Health Sciences. His current research interests include Protein-Energy Malnutrition and malaria in children, Aflatoxin and Fumonisin contamination as factors in growth retardation, HIV-AIDS and malnutrition in children, Isoenzymes as tools in disease diagnosis and the role of vitamins A and E in disease diagnosis, Molecular Biology of Parasites He has published numerous number of articles in peer reviewed journals as well as conference proceedings both locally and internationally. He has supervised and is currently supervising many postgraduate students. He was a founder and executive committee member of the Biochemical Society of Kenya (BSK). He has also been a member of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (1993-96) .
