Prof. Samar al Nahhas
I am a professor of Parasitology at Damascus University, faculty of Science, Department of animal biology. I obtained the bachelor degree from Damascus university, then the diploma and the Ph D from France. I have experiences in: Using light and electronic microscopes in lab studies., Preparing and staining smears, Applying molecular biology methods with the students (PCR, Karyotype), Staining some bacteria species by Gram stain, Applying immunological methods: identification blood groups, pregnancy test, ELISA, IF, WB, dot blot. Using electrophoresis for identifying the parasites enzyme profile. Diagnosing the parasites in the stool and blood. Identifying lymphocytes mutations (by applying PCR) which introduce the cancer. Able to obtain grants and to establish research projects. I am interested in doing researches on some parasites: Leishmania, Giardia, Plasmodium, Echinococcus, Entamoeba… etc, by using conventional, molecular, serological methods.
